Cañon City is a semi-rural community that has farming and ranching, with tourism as a strong contributing factor to the economy (Royal Gorge, Rafting, and Skiing). Our

commitment to working closely with our students in a wide variety of
circumstances.
The Royal Gorge Academy operates as a co-ed private boarding school. The campus is co-ed but young men and women will not have classes together, physical education, or dine together. There will be, however, designated times and events that will allow healthy socializing. Royal Gorge Academy, which is located in a gorgeous campus setting nestled against the foothills of the Greenhorn Mountains, can meet the needs of every student. Students enjoy a spacious dining facility,
outstanding dormitory facilities, ample classrooms, a full gymnasium
with a tartan floor, weight room and exercise facility, large indoor
swimming pool, tennis courts, soccer fields, performing arts
auditorium, a library, and workshop/training rooms.
Students are required to be dressed in school uniform attire at all times. The students are observed closely for appropriate dress and grooming. The
school offers a full course curriculum that adheres to the Colorado
Educational Standards. Many electives are in the curriculum that
ensures the well-rounded education of the complete student.
The school offers advanced placement classes that allows students to obtain dual credit (college credit) that allows them to get college credit for selected course work while obtaining their high school diploma. There are several colleges in the state of Colorado that are willing to work with us in this regard. Pre-teens and teenagers grade levels 7-12 who have learning challenges, are under motivated, or ADD/ADHD thrive in a structured environment that emphasizes personal responsibility, compassion and respect for others. Small classes (10 students per cottage), individualized programs, and an experienced, caring faculty help students build self esteem, strengthen
interpersonal relationships and develop leadership skills through
Positive Peer Culture that will enable them to lead productive and
rewarding lives.
Royal Gorge Academy programs are specifically developed to benefit those students who, for some reason, have not succeeded within the usual framework of the educational system. Royal Gorge Academy teachers are certified, experienced, and effective.
